Several key aspects of current space weather forecasting operations are dependent on near realtime coronagraph data. Given the small number of operating space-based coronagraphs with realtime capability, PUNCH will be an important addition to global forecasting capabilities. The UK government recently funded improvements to UK space weather resilience, including a project to provide new solar wind and CME forecasting software tools to the UK Meteorological Office. This presentation presents the new tool and discusses problems related to current realtime data provision, including what is required from observational platforms for effective forecasting. PUNCH will provide an invaluable additional data source for forecasting, and a summary of observational requirements will be given.
