NASA's Transform to Open Science (https://nasa.github.io/Transform-to-Open-Science/) has been providing training modules, i.e. the "TOPS 101" for teams to gain proficiency in all aspects of Open Science. The elements of open science have two general areas: 1) open access to publications, tools, and software, and 2) a commitment to inclusion, collaboration, diversity and equity. There are many resources to help individuals develop the knowledge and skills required for open science, but organizations pose additional challenges. The PUNCH mission has had a strong commitment to openness and community access since its inception. This discussion will review the key aspects of open science and the obstacles towards fulfilling open science objectives. We will then discuss how PUNCH as a mission and as a team can achieve "Open Science" status and serve as a model for other NASA missions.
