UCAR’s Day of Discovery & Members Meeting
This fall, two important annual events took place at UCAR and included highlights from CPAESS staff.
On October 1 was the UCARDay of Science and Discovery. This event provides a chance to learn about important research and projects going on across the organization, network with colleagues, and build our sense of community and mission. The Day of Science and Discovery included science talks, lunch, and a closing reception. There were opportunities for discussion, and talks highlighting collaborations and themes that support our organization’s strategic goals and directions. This year we had lightning talks and a poster session for early-career staff, among other additions and changes.
Two CPAESS staff presented at this event including CPAESS Project Scientist III Dr. Baoqiang (Bao) Xiang working at NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL), and CPAESS Postdoctoral Fellow Robert Jarolim of the NASA Jack Eddy Fellowship.
From October 8-9, 2024 the UCAR Annual Members Meeting. The member representatives from university members gather to vote on governance positions and issues and to connect with UCAR and NCAR scientists and staff. Lab and Program directors were invited to participate at the meeting to engage with the university members. Members want to know about research and the latest at NCAR and UCP. CPAESS leadership and staff participated in the UCAR Members Meeting with CPAESS staff members Alex Meyer and Kate Rodd manning our informational table.
We were delighted that CPAESS Postdoctoral Fellow Robert Jarolim of the NASA Jack Eddy Fellowship was able to give a lightning presentation to the UCAR Members about his research at NCAR’s High Altitude Observatory (HAO).
