Strategic Plan Project

The Cooperative Programs for the Advancement of Earth System Science (CPAESS), is pleased to announce to the Earth system science community that it is undertaking a Strategic Planning Project to continue to support its ability to anticipate and respond to science support and workforce development services needed by the community over the next five years.

CPAESS is a program that serves the broad external Earth system science community and has done so in various forms for over thirty years and has a wide range of potential stakeholders. The CPAESS Strategic Plan Project will be a staged effort that will start by seeking input from the community through multiple channels to inform the creation of a high-level Strategic Plan that will be available to the community.

Components and Timeline

  • Announce project to CPAESS community - December 2017 to February 2018
  • Engage all CPAESS Staff in discussions - January 2018 to May 2018
  • Review of community documents - February 2018 to April 2018
  • Survey of CPAESS stakeholders - August 2018
  • Follow-on one-on-one interviews - August 2018
  • Input analysis and drafting of Strategic Plan - August 2018 to October 2018
  • Targeted release and briefings of Final Strategic Plan - October
