In 2024, the greatest minimum of the length of day (LOD) over 80 years (-1.57 ms) has been recorded. At the same time, the amplitudes of the Chandler wobble and Free Core Nutation reached minimum. Some researchers relate this to the global warming.
GRACE and GRACE-FO missions track mass redistributions on Earth for more than two decades and can give an answer, to what extent the mass component can be responsible for the present-day anomalies in the Earth rotation
We will discuss the problem of possible interconnection between climate and rotation of the planet, demonstrating the trends related to some particular basins.
