Description of scientific projects
-Mitigating extreme heat at bus stops: this NSF-funded project looks at the determinants of extreme heat exposure at transit stops, how that affects human comfort and ridership, and at strategies for mitigating that heat.
-Role of homeowners' associations in wildfire mitigation: this US Forest Service-funded project looks at the role of HOAs in promoting fuel treatments, home hardening, fire-safe landscapes, and other wildfire mitigation strategies
-Turf replacement mapping in Colorado: This project, previously funded by Western Resource Advocates, looks at GIS methods for targeting irrigated urban turf lands for conversion to low water landscapes.
