Description of scientific projects
We combine ground-based, airborne and space-based detection methods to tackle the most challenging carbon cycle science problems impacting climate. Our studies in Arctic-Boreal systems leverage CARVE data to understand the vulnerability of permafrost carbon to climate change. Our Megacity Carbon Project uses a newly constructed network in Los Angeles to measure spatial and temporal variability in the LA CO2 and CH4 "dome" as well as provide ground truth for satellite measurements. We interact closely with pilot projects in Paris and other megacities to understand how explosive urban growth and human activities will affect climate.
