Description of scientific projects
I am interested in and have done research on surface/atmosphere interactions. This includes measuring and analyzing surface flux data, and relating surface fluxes to surface properties over both land and water surfaces. Surface properties (e.g. vegetation, soil moisture, and temperature) are affected by such climate change variables as air temperature, rainfall, and mean wind speed. I have also worked extensively on studying the evolution of marine stratocumulus--especially airplane observations of marine stratocumulus regimes. Small changes in stratocumulus cloud cover can have significant changes in the earth's radiation budget, and thus global temperatures.
