Description of scientific projects
My primary area of interest is understanding the role of the ocean in climate change, in particular, the role of oceanic heat storage and transport in decadal climate variations. Satellite observations of sea level, which have reached a record length of more than 9 years, now allow more detailed studies of the heat transport and storage than previously possible, and a way to test and improve the accuracy of climate simulations. Additionally, new wind products from satellite scatterometers allow improved understanding of ocean dynamics and air/sea coupling.
