Description of scientific projects
My work focuses on the evaluation and improvement of IPCC class climate models, especially with regard to their polar simulations. I am the main developer of the GFDL sea ice model. I also study the ice-albedo feedback in climate models: its role in climate change, variation between models, and potential for inducing nonlinear climate change. Another branch of my work involves the role ocean heat transport and uptake and their roles in polar and global climate change.
