Dr Thomas C Peterson

Tom Peterson is a research meteorologist at the National Climatic Data Center involved in many long-term climate change issues. For example, during his work on the Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN) data set of century-scale in situ observations he had to address many data fidelity issues such as inhomogeneities in the time series due to changes in instrumentation. More recently as Chair of the World Meteorological Organizations Working Group on Climate Change Detection, he has worked on analysis of changes in extremes using a variety of indices derived from daily data.
