One current focus is ocean ventilation pathways. Observed oxygen changes in the ocean are currently not reproduced by climate models, and it’s unclear what processes are missing to close this gap. We are investigating the detailed ventilation pathways in the subpolar North Atlantic, particularly those of Labrador Sea Water, from ocean observations. This will help address this fundamental uncertainty in climate models.
