Projects in the group involve some combination of the following three approaches: 1) laboratory studies of the oxidation reactions of organic species in the atmosphere, with a particular focus on the effects of multi-step oxidation on the composition of both the gas and particle phases; 2) development of new analytical techniques for the measurement and chemical characterization of atmospheric organics; and 3) participation in field studies to characterize ambient organic species.
