Description of scientific projects
At SAFL (www.safl.umn.edu) several top class experimental facilities are available. Among those: 1) the atmospheric wind tunnel with independent control of free stream and surface temperatures allowing the study of the stratified and convective boundary layer. 2) A 120m met tower with 4 sonic anemometers, humidity and temperature sensors, and a movable LIDAR. 3) different scaled channels with recirculation of sediments and automated carts providing the spatio-temporally resolved bed topography.
