Fields of interest
Geophysical fluid dynamics (including a large GFD lab effort); climate of the high latitudes, circulation and fresh-water dynamics; deep-sea observations; storm tracks in the atmosphere
Description of scientific projects
Dynamics of synoptic-scale eddies, storm tracks, jet streams in observations, models and GFD lab experiments; nonlinear Rossby waves; NASA satellite altimetry science team, applied to the gyre circulation and climate change of the subpolar oceans; mixing in rotating stratified fluids, dense ocean overflows.
