Instructions for Registration and Abstract Submission

Please use the Cvent website in the meeting menu to register for the event and submit an abstract to present a short talk (15 minutes) or a lightning talk (5 minutes).

Registration Fees:

  • Regular Attendee: $595.00
  • Graduate Student/Postdoctoral Fellow: $300.00
  • Guest Registration Sunday Welcome Reception: $85.00*
  • Guest Registration Wednesday Banquet Dinner: $135.00*

*Guests are invited to attend the welcome reception and dinner only.  Each event requires an additional fee. Please register your guest when you register yourself using the Cvent link in the meeting menu.  Guests are limited to one per registrant.

Registration Fees Include:

  • Admission to the full conference - June 6 - 10, 2022
  • Welcome Networking Reception - Sunday Evening, June 5, 2022
  • Banquet Dinner - Wednesday, June 8, 2022
  • Continental Breakfast - June 6 through June 10, 2022
  • AM/PM Breaks (Coffee, and light snacks) - June 6 through June 10, 2022

CANCELLATION: Cancellations received by May 15, 2022 will be refunded all registration fees less a $15.00 processing fee.  Cancellations received after May 15, 2022 are non-refundable.

Graduate Student & Postdoc Travel Funding

Application Deadline: March 25, 2022

Approximately 10 graduate students and early postdoctoral fellows will be selected through a competitive process organized by the UCAR Cooperative Programs for the Advancement of Earth System Science. U.S. and non-U.S. based applicants are welcome.  The Eddy Symposium lasts for five days, and each participant will receive travel support including: registration fees, airline tickets, lodging, per diem, and ground transportation to and from the event.

Successful candidates are:

  • Currently enrolled as a graduate student or a first or second year Postdoctoral Fellow in any phase of training.
  • Majoring in physics with an emphasis on astrophysics, geophysics, plasma physics, and space physics, or experienced in at least one of these areas.
  • Pursuing a career in heliophysics or astrophysics.

Application materials required:

  1. Statement of interest (250 word limit) addressing:
    • Your motivation for attending the Symposium.
    • What benefits you hope to achieve at the Symposium.
    • How you will contribute to the Symposium.
  2. An email from your advisor/supervisor approving your attendance at the Symposium (graduate students only).
  3. Curriculum Vitae (2 page limit)  - Please list your Advisor and thesis title if applicable.

Lodging:

Lodging for attendees is available at The Lodge at Vail.  A limited number of rooms are available. The reservation deadline is Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Please consider making arrangements for lodging soon.  Vail is a popular destination during the summer and UCAR cannot guarantee availability of guest rooms.

The negotiated group room rate is $147.00 per night plus a $30 per night resort fee and taxes. The Resort Fee includes:

Check-in begins at 4:00pm and checkout must be completed by 11:00am. Late checkout will be subject to availability. Any reservations made after Wednesday, May 4, 2022 will be at the Hotel's prevailing rate and based on availability.

Airports:

Eagle County Regional Airport

Located 30 minutes from Vail, with non-stop flights to 14 cities nationwide via United, American and Delta airlines

Denver International Airport (DIA)

DIA is a scenic two hour drive to Vail. Serviced by all major domestic airlines with non-stop flights from over 26 international gateways.

Shuttle Services:

Epic Mountain Express

Service provided from both airports.  Options include shared van, private shuttle for up to 12 passengers and private SUV service for up to 5 passengers.  For additional information call 970-754-7433.

Local Transportation

The Town of Vail Transit Department provides free year-round bus service throughout Vail.  Check out the bus schedule for more information.

Dining and Things to do in Vail

Please visit Vail.com for information on dining, events, and activities. 

There are several restaurants located within a short walk or drive from the Lodge at Vail.

As a reminder, summer is a busy time in Vail Village.  Please consider making reservations in advance for dinner and plan for long lines at lunch. 

If time permits, check out the GoPro Mountain Games which are being held in Vail Village June 10-13. 2022.  The GoPro Mountain Games are the country’s most celebrated festival of adventure, sports, art, and music.

Thousands of pro and amateur adventure athletes sign up each year and converge upon the mountains and rivers of Vail to compete in 11 disciplines and more than 30 competitions including kayaking, running, slackline, DockDogs, trail running, mountain and road cycling, climbing, photography and more. The event also features the GoPro Mountains of Music LIVE concert series throughout the weekend.

The Mountain Games are a project of the non-profit Vail Valley Foundation, which has a mission to enhance quality of life in the Vail Valley through arts, athletics, and education.
