CPAESS had a strong and visible presence throughout the American Meteorological Society's annual meeting, with staff contributing to a wide range of oral and poster presentations. These presentations spanned topics such as atmospheric modeling, climate variability, Earth system predictability, data assimilation, and the application of emerging technologies to improve forecasting and environmental understanding. 

The prestigious Neil Frank Award was presented at the National Hurricane Conference to the widow of the late Ethan Gibney, a CPAESS scientist at the National Hurricane Center’s Storm Surge Unit. The award represents the highest honor bestowed by the National Hurricane Conference, recognizing truly exceptional contributions to hurricane preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation at a national or international scale.

Four CPAESS staff members have been selected to participate in this year’s UCAR Leadership Academy.

Dr. Zorana Jelenak has flown through the hurricane eyewall more than 400 times on NOAA’s P‑3 research aircraft. On these flights, specialized instruments collect critical information that help scientists predict where a storm will go and how strong it will become.
