CPAESS staff at NOAA recognized with Teamwork Award
The NOAA National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) Office of Low Earth Orbit Observations (LEO) has recognized UCAR | CPAESS and NOAA staff with an Administrative Teamwork Award in the first quarter of 2025 for their “outstanding effort to prepare the 2024 Sterna Socio-Economic Report.” The following UCAR staff are among the 25 recipients of the award:
- Sean Casey : CPAESS Project Scientist, NOAA Quantitative Observing System Assessment Program (QOSAP)
-
Kim Klockow McClain : CPAESS Senior Research Scientist, NOAA National Weather Service (NWS)
-
Andres Vidal Urbina : CPAESS Software Engineer, NOAA Quantitative Observing System Assessment Program (QOSAP)
Sean Casey and Andres Vidal Urbina’s work is directed by Lidia Cucurull, Director of the NOAA Quantitative Observing System Assessment Program (QOSAP) who also received this award. Sean and Andres are among seven CPAESS employees who work with QOSAP. Kim Klockow McClain holds a unique position that incorporates social science research into NWS’ meteorological science to create actionable information for the public.
The report is an outgrowth of QOSAP’s charge to assess potential new Earth observing systems and their potential impacts on numerical weather prediction.
Congratulations Sean, Kim, and Andres!
